Newbie to N900

Hi,

Wanted to say 'hello'. Recently bought an N900 and found a recommendation to this forum whilst Googling 'N900 Android'.

Fascinated with the fact that this Smartphone runs a Linux distro that is from what I've understood to be hackable not forgetting the fact that Android 2.1 / 2.2 can be installed (not sure how straight forward this though).

Am a Motorola Dext to Nokia N900 switcher. Very disappointed with the Dext. Really do believe that Motorola and Orange PCS in the U.K. have mislead a lot of very loyal customers into believing that the stock supplied OS can be upgraded to Android 2.1 however from what it seems it cannot. Anyway my Dext has died (is about 4-months old). Orange PCS do not seem to be interested in after-sales customer service therefore really do believe that trying to obtain a refund is going to be nothing but hassle. Thankfully bought on credit card therefore will more than likely need to take up with them.

Anyway back to the N900, can anyone recommend a good case/skin as I'm worried about stratches and really do not want to damage my prized purchase.

Would like to install Android 2.1 / 2.2 as well however need to get to grips of basic functionality first I think (trying not to run before being able to walk).
